About this guide
Phu Quoc Island Tourism is an independent, English-language guide to Phu Quoc island. It is written by a small team of editors and is not a government tourism office. This page explains how the guide is made and how we correct it.
Who writes this guide
The guide is written and checked by the Phu Quoc Island Tourism editors. We are not part of, and do not speak for, the An Giang provincial People's Committee, the Phu Quoc Special Zone authorities, the national tourism authority or any tourism business. The name describes the subject, tourism on Phu Quoc island, not an official role.
When something on this site comes from an official body, we say so and link to it. The province publishes at angiang.gov.vn and the special zone at phuquoc.angiang.gov.vn.
What this site does not do
- We do not sell tours, tickets, transfers or rooms, and we do not take bookings or payments for travel.
- We do not take payment for a mention, a link or a place on any page.
- We do not rank hotels, restaurants or travel companies.
- We do not pass your details to any company when you write to us.
Some pages carry clearly labelled advertising spaces. Advertisers do not choose what we write, and advertising is kept separate from the text of the guide.
Where our facts come from
We use, in this order: laws, resolutions and official portals (national, provincial and special zone); the operators' own websites for timetables and fares (airport, boat companies, the national park); and the major Vietnamese press, such as Tuoi Tre, VnExpress, VietnamPlus, Nhan Dan and SGGP. Travel blogs and resellers are used only for descriptions, never as the sole source of a price or a rule, and are named when we rely on them.
We do not publish prices older than 2025 and we do not invent ones we cannot find. Where we could not verify something, we leave it out or say plainly that we could not confirm it.
How dates work on this site
Under each section that contains figures you will see the sources and the date we checked them, for example “checked 12/10/2026”. That date means the figure matched the source on that day. Timetables, fares, opening hours and visa rules can change at any time; please confirm with the operator or authority before you travel. Pages also carry a last-updated date.
Where sources disagree
Some basic facts about Phu Quoc are given differently by reliable sources. Rather than choose silently, we show both:
| Topic | One source says | Another says |
|---|---|---|
| Island or special-zone area | more than 589 km² (SGGP, 2025) | 575.29 km² (An Giang portal, 2025) |
| National park area | 36,262 ha (park website) | 31,422 ha (tourism department); over 37,000 ha (Nhan Dan, 2025) |
| Rainy season | May to November (2021 climate study) | May to October (airline and travel guides) |
| Prison origins | built by the French in 1949 (Vietnam Airlines) | 1953 (CAND) |
Corrections
If you find a mistake, an out-of-date timetable or a broken link, please tell us through the form on the contact page. It helps to include the page address, the sentence that is wrong, what you believe is correct, and a link to the official source if you have one.
We check every report against the source. If the page is wrong, we change the text, update the check date and, when the correction changes a fact that readers may have relied on, add a short note in that section saying what changed. We do not change a fact on the strength of a message alone without a source we can read.
